Bourbon County Stout 2018 hits the UK: When and where to buy

Goose Island’s iconic Bourbon County Stout is once again making its way across the Atlantic for its November launch. With limited supply, here’s when and where you can buy it in the UK in 2018, including a version usually exclusive to Chicago.

Following the recent opening of its brewpub in Shoreditch (the Balham Vintage Ale House is now shut), Bourbon County Stout is on its way. Bottles are the original version rather than the other variants available in the US such as coffee barleywine and reserve – although one other will be available on tap at the Brewpub.

“Aged in 4+ year old Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels, Bourbon County Brand Stout packs a wallop with flavours of cocoa, vanilla, caramel, almond, cherry. Additional notes of leather and tobacco permeate this complex beer that deepens with each sip. In fact, one sip has more flavour than your average case of beer,” said the brewery.

Here are the specifics:

  • ABV: 14.7%
  • IBU: 60
  • Colour: Midnight
  • Hops: Millennium
  • Malts: 2 – Row, Munich, Chocolate, Caramel, Roast Barley, Black Malt

When does it go on sale?

The Bourbon County Stout release date is never much of a mystery. It goes on sale on Black Friday, which is 23 November.

Where can I buy it?

Like last year, there are few places you can buy Bourbon County Stout in the UK. There will be a limited amount, of course, and will be capped as 2 per customer if the rules are the same as 2017. Check out the details below.

The first 20 customers at the first two locations will get a goody bag and there will be a vertical tasting of BCS ’17 and ’18 at Ghost Whale after the launch.

How much does it cost?

As per last year, each 16.9oz (480ml) bottle of Bourbon County Stout will be priced at £20.
